Brochure Design Critique, Suggestions and Ideas.
Designing a brochure for your business can be a time-consuming and frustrating experience, or it can be a fun and enjoyable one. It all depends how well you plan in advance and commit yourself to doing a quality job that will be attractive to customers.
Start with a plan. Create an outline of the key elements to be included, including product or service description, features and benefits of hiring your company, contact information, color schemes and pictures or liiustrations of your product or service
Perhaps the most important part of the brochure, besides your contact information, is, can you visually explain what your company does so your prospects understand what you do quickly and simply? Good, professional photography and quality illustrations (showing a process flow or a working model, etc) can get your company concept across far easier than paragraphs of text. Plus, as the world moves faster and faster, the visual part of your presentation is key.
Plan your budget around your images, and spend more on good shots, rather han something you shoot from your cell phone. That might look "good enough" for you, but how will your customers react when there is a bad picture of your product or service? They will either imply that the product or service is bad, or that you don't take pride in your work. Not a good start to building a relationship.
Choose a typeface that is easy to read, but not so common as to be boring or typical - use something other than times or helvetica to give your brochure some more visual appeal. Pick colors that are pleasing to the eye, compliment each other and will have appeal to your customers. And don't decide on colors just because you like them. You might like burgundy and gray - but if your prospective customer is a woman - that will not appeal to her one bit.
So use good images, a not so common typeface, make sure you include why your reader should buy from you and that your contact information is easy to find and in a obvious place. You will have gone a long way to reaching you goal of more sales.
